INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY
Darlings, we need a LIST of stuff we're selling and the prices they're selling at,
and we need to tell Shan how much WATER we need, I hope it's not too late,
:D
I'm doing posters, one saying "08IP05, AQUA. Go. Flow. Woah." and the other, "KOREAN Food and Games Stall"
The more posters we have, the COLOURFUL-er and ATTRACTIVE-ER our stall gets.
JIAYOUS!

PEPPER!
ORIGINS
Pepper is the dried berry of Piper nigrum* that is picked about nine months after flowering. Pepper originated from India and is now grown in are pepper plantations in Thailand, China, Vietnam, Brazil, and Sri Lanka.
USES
black pepper is a good preservative. They can be used in:
• Canning
• Baking
• Pickling
It is also a good seasoning- adding a little can help to alter the taste of the dish by adding flavour.
white pepper is mainly used for appearance, especially in light-colored sauces or foods where dark specks of black pepper would not look good.
TRADE ROUTES
November, 116 BC
Romans left India with black pepper which they thought was “long pepper”.
3AD, roman trade weaken Arab traders dominated. Took their merchandise to Alexandria and Venetians and dominated the distribution of pepper.
1498 AD Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama arrived in Kerala. Portuguese took over spice trade and they grew pepper at the tropic countries they owned.
Dutch took over the Portuguese in 1663. However, there was some problems and the East India companies broke up and trade is now freely traded!
SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS
xiangkang shd say WOW during presentation. BUT....haiz.
•Peppers have a hot and spicy taste!
•By just adding a dash of pepper can change the entire taste of the dish!

Study sessions after school during Ass week
Hey all,
I noe most of the posts for the past few days have been about IH, so i thought of adding a lil variation.
So, just to remind everyone, we end sch DAMN EARLY on the Ass week days.
So i was thinking we should have study sessions too clear up any queries you have with ur smarter classmates (namely Jeanette and Felly, hehe) on various subjects.
We need not go Soma's house lah.... neither should we go Jefferson's house. These places are gettin old. And we shouldn't crash Shanker's house as well. I tink staying in sch would be the best option.
This is just a suggestion, if u dun agree with it, jus ignore it.
Happy studyin people! Gd luck on Ass week.
I'm done.
Fruke the Ferociously Fat Freak.

SALT :D
USES
1. Seasoning:
Salt is used as a seasoning to enhance the taste of food or make otherwise bland foods palatable.
2. Preservative:
For centuries, salt has been used to preserve foods such as meat, fish and dairy products.
3.Binding agent
Salt acts as a binder as it helps extract the myofibrillar proteins in processed and formed meats, binding the meat together and reducing cooking losses.
4. Colour controller:
Used with sugar and nitrate, salt gives processed meats, such as ham, bacon and hot dogs, a more attractive colour.
5. Texture aid:
Salt strengthens gluten in bread dough, providing uniform grain, texture and strength, allowing the dough to expand without tearing.
6.Fermentation control:
In baked products, salt controls fermentation by retarding the growth of bacteria, yeast and moulds.
Salt, used through time…
•commodity has been used since pre-historic times as currency, medicine and an enhancer and preservative of food.
•Salt has played a prominent role in religious ritual in many cultures, symbolizing purity. There are more than 30 references to salt in the Bible
•Salt is also an essential element for the living: life itself would be impossible without it, since the human body requires salt in order to function properly
•Salt was in general use long before recorded time. Therefore its exact Origins are not known although there is evidence showing the use of salt in pre-historic times.
•Since currencies in different countries have always differed, salt was an international currency: it was an important trading commodity carried by explorers
•Salt was traditionally expensive, and thus used to bestow social standing.
•necessity of salt has subjected it to governmental monopoly and special taxes
This is the extra information for salt. :D
And Brindha, I think I got your worksheet. I found it on my table and i asked around but nobody claimed it so it's in my locker. You can take it back on monday. :)

SALT:D
Oh, that picture was superrr CUTE.
Anyway, here is the one from The Salt Group! :D Yay! Let's do PERFECT IH BOOKLETS!
JEANETTE, if you see this, could you help add in the ORIGINS and USES part? TY! (: LOVELOVE!Origins of SALT:
- Unsurprisingly, evidence shows salt was important as long ago as when mastadons roamed the earth. Therefore making it quite untraceable. (:
- But it has been such an important element of life that it has been the subject of many stories, fables and folktales and is frequently referenced in fairy tales.
- Salt served as money at various times and places, and it has been the cause of bitter warfare.
- “…still evident in the English language as the word "salary" derives from the Latin word salarium that means payment in salt (Latin sal).”
- “In West Africa on the southern edge of the Sahara desert, empires were built on the salt trade.”
- “In some trading cities in this region (like the famous Timbuktu) salt could be traded ounce-for-ounce for gold.”
Location:
•
Timbuktu•Niger
–By The Tuaregs (Nomads)
•
Sahara•Ancient Africa
–Mali,
–Ghana,
–Songhai Empires.
FOUND WORLD WIDE :D Sea salt or from Salt Mining in regions with SEAS and ROCKS OF SALT (:
Trade Route:The route began in Northern Africa city known as Sidjilmassa. It passed through the salt-rich village of Taghaza, through the Sahara and finally to the gold region of the Ghana Empire known as Wangara (located near the Bambuk and Bure regions).
Merchants established a second major gold-salt trade route northeast across the Sahara that passed through Tunis, and Cairo, and ended in Egypt's interior.
Uses:Make cream whip more easily and egg whites whip faster and higher.Like WTH!!!? I cant seem to find as pro uses as what THU found the other day ): SO SORRRY!Special Characteristics:
- Salt is essential to the health of ALL humans and animals.
- Seawater contains an average of 2.7% NaCl (salt)
- Salt can stabilize irregular ♥beat
- Can be used to preserved food
- Is used to make sculptures
- Is almost impossible to substitute
The origins part and the uses may not be what we showed you that day, because the edited slides are with my PARTNERRR BABES, [: so i just put in stuff I JUST researched on. I hope it's ok (: WOOH.
